Clarke Heavey Stonemasonry was recently commissioned to conduct a range of remediation work on three elevations of Doncaster Corn Exchange, a Grade II listed building situated at the heart of the town centre.
We supplied and fitted replacements of large format stone at various points around the property, removing old, cracked stone that harmed the integrity of the building. To create a nice finish to the newly fitted stone, it was then pointed with a lime mortar, also helping strengthen and weather-proof the Grade II building.
A binding agent was applied to the the building in order to help with the consolidation of friable stone, an important process for helping strengthen the internal structure as well as stabilising deteriorated stone and reducing further decay.
Stone Revival were also on-site to carry out a DOFF steam clean on some areas of the three elevations that didn't require a full restoration, they were able to remove the weathered surface of the stone and restore it to a 'like-new' state.
