A Victorian Treasure in Harrogate

Recently, our team had the pleasure of working on a truly wonderful property in the heart of Harrogate – a stunning Victorian home steeped in history and architectural splendour. As always, we love to showcase our specialist exterior cleaning skills, but this is always a welcomed opportunity for us to help preserve a piece of Harrogate’s rich heritage. 

Victorian architecture is well known for its intricate detail, high-quality materials, and timeless grandeur. This particular property ticked all the boxes, from the ornate stonework to the elegant bay windows and decorative cornices. However, decades of exposure to the elements had left the façade full of carbon and biological growth.

Before any cleaning could be done, our team conducted a full assessment of the stonework, identifying the safest and most effective methods for this project. We protected the windows and ensured there was a clear plan, especially since there were other workforces around at the time. 

A cleaning solution was applied to the stone to break down the carbon bond, and the residue was removed using the DOFF steam cleaning system. This gentle approach to stone cleaning is preferred to other methods, and especially for heritage properties such as this as there is minimal impact to the building material. There is no high-pressure blasting involved, and it is only time and persistence which enables us to provide exceptional transformations.
